The two-stage fall of the Kukdi Khapa Waterfall is one of its unique features. On the Chhindwara-Nagpur highway, the impressive Kukdi Khapa waterfall can be seen in the expansive Sillevani Mountain range.
The first waterfall is a mini one, while the second is a higher, more difficult-to-reach cascade that drops from a height of around 60 Feet.
The journey to Kukdi Khapa Waterfall from Nagpur is 100 kilometers long and takes about two hours.
✔How to reach Kukdi Khapa Waterfall?
Take the highway towards Chinndwara, which passes through Saoner.
In Google Maps, type “Sillewani” rather than “Kukdi Khapa Waterfall.” As the locations and directions on Google Maps are inaccurate. From Sillewani, the approach road offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
There is a sign board indicating the direction of Kukdi Khapa Falls or take the local’s advice.
From the main road, it is roughly 9 km away. The two roads are in decent condition.
✔Best time to visit Kukdi Kapa waterfall?
Visit here during the monsoon season from July to October, as this location comes alive during this period.

STORYLINE
On a Scale of 1-10, how much do you love waterfalls?
If you rated it 10, I predict you also love chasing waterfalls.
Ultimately, chasing waterfalls also requires a bit of effort to track the most captivating views of the waterfalls.
Visiting Kukdi Khapa Waterfalls is no less than a thrilling adventure.
Here’s how it went…
It was the month of August, of course, the rainy season, making it the ideal opportunity to see and explore any nearby waterfalls.
So I got this monsoonic urge to research and see the best waterfall near my place.
Then I remembered,
Once I heard from someone about Kudki Khapa Waterfalls, the best scenic waterfall near Nagpur.
Then What??
I planned to visit the Kukdi Khapa waterfalls with one of my travel enthusiastic friends.
We started our journey in the morning, and it took us approx. 2 hours to reach our destination, Kukdi Khapa.
It’s a one-day trip from Nagpur.
As it was the monsoon season, the whole route was welcoming, with naturally filled greenery along the way.
On the way, we took a halt at Ghogra waterfall near Jam Sawali Shri Hanuman Mandir.
Which is also an amazing waterfall for Nagpurkars.
After this, we continued our journey back to our main destination, Kukdi Khapa Waterfalls.
We crossed Sillewani Ghat on the way to Kukdi Khapa Waterfall.
The overall accessibility to Kukdi Khapa waterfalls is quite easy.
The highway routes are smooth until you reach Sillewani village.
❌Do not rely on Google Maps here. It’ll take you the wrong way.
So we asked the locals to guide us to find the best possible route.
After taking a right turn from Sillewani village, the road will become
narrower and have to cross mini-villages and farms.
We then finally reached our destination, Kukdi Khapa Waterfall.
Where we found ample parking space for our vehicles to park.
A slight twist emerged at this point.
At first, we thought it was just a simple waterfall sightseeing spot.
But, but, but…
This place has something big to offer.
Of course, you can have a view of the waterfall from the top, but if you are an adventure-loving trekking or hiking freak like us, then you’ll definitely not stand the idea of simply gazing at it from the top.
We then returned back to the parking lot, grabbed all our backpacks, and prepared ourselves for this unique trek, which goes down from the top to a height of approx. 60 feet.
The waterfall has two stages.
The upper one is a mini waterfall, which is easily accessible.
where you’ll find most of the crowd and a bit touristy.
Next, the second stage, which falls from approx. 60 feet in height, is the taller one.
This is where the challenge comes.
To reach this second-stage waterfall:
- You have to cross a mini river first, which has mossy, slippery rocks.
- Cross the steep trek down the hill.
A word of caution: It’s risky to reach down to get a complete view of the waterfall.
The elderly and children are not recommended.
Do you love challenges?
If you answered “yes,” keep reading to put yourself in our shoes and subsequently visit here this monsoon season in real.
Kukdi Khapa Waterfall Challenge No. 1
Crossing The Mini River
As the weather was cloudy, plus the rainy season,
What could you expect?
Rain! Right?
Due to the little rain showers and the rainy season, the flow of the water was not so high, but medium, I would say.
However, getting across the river was still quite difficult.
Want to know why?
Simply because of the moss-covered, slippery rocks at the surface below the water flow.
Additionally, the water flow was knee-deep.
We tried and failed many times to cross it until we gave up.
But one of my friends, being optimistic, found a way to cross it.
He searched for a long wooden stick in the bush and asked us to remove the shoes.
I had witnessed numerous individuals stumble and fall over the river when crossing, so I was a little dubious about it.
The voice in my head urged me to give it a shot.
“There’s always a high chance of success behind any risk you take.
Neha Kaithwas
Take those prudent risks! Take that step! Start Now!”
Your bare feet have the ability to hold due to the toes and have higher friction rates.
Voila! It worked without even falling.
At the time, navigating that mini-river felt like a significant accomplishment.
And yes, why not? Every accomplishment, no matter how great or small, deserves to be celebrated.
Because doing so will fill you with self-satisfaction and happiness.
Next comes the second challenge,
Narrow, arduous trek to a stunning waterfall.
Kukdi Khapa Waterfall Challenge No. 2
Narrow Steep Trek
After crossing the river, we walked a few steps to the left, towards Kukdi Khapa Waterfall.
Very few people were able to reach here due to the river crossing barrier.
Well, did you ever give up even before starting any journey?
Yes! I did. At least in my mind.
When we saw the whole trail from above, it had no stairs.
Rough path, straight down the hill.
The hill was really steep.
One of the stones rolled down the slope after I slightly shifted it off the path.
I lost sight of the stone.
On the steep slope, the trek was almost like rappelling.
If you’ve ever rappelled before, you can imagine it.
After all this, we had second thoughts about whether to continue this trek or not!
But out of curiosity, our instinct told us to keep on.
The trail was covered by the roots and branches of the trees, stones, and rocks.
With muddy or soggy dirt.
Enough to help us maintain traction on the incline.
Your high-grip shoes can also do the work.
Never ask us about our appearance or our condition. In Hindi, we call it “Huliya”.
Our clothes got a bit dirty, hands too got soiled due to the mud or soil while gaining traction.
We were left with little choice but to use our hands to secure the grasp and prevent falling or slipping.
We somehow managed to reach down.
But before I could admire the surroundings and praise them,
one of my feet slid on a slick rock, causing me to fall and suffer just minor bruises.
No worries, I’m not a kiddo!
I knew this was quite common when you do moderate-tough treks in such weather conditions.
No matter how hard you try not to fall, no one can beat nature.
“Scenic beauty will fade away all your injuries.”
Neha Kaithwas
Yes! I literally forgot my pain and injuries after gazing and listening to the sound of nature.
Sensed both mindfulness and heartfelt emotion.
Away from the turmoil of the city, nobody was there except us and nature.
I could hear the sound of flowing water in dominance, a waterfall, and the river.
The sound of the buzzing insects, the chirping of birds, and the overall forest.
I found myself lost in nature.
Feeling the presence, I sat over the rock, closed my eyes, and felt the gratefulness of being there.
Felt Alive!
We completed our final ascent to the waterfall while appreciating nature.
For a few meters, the riverside trail was slick and full of large boulders.
The grasp was challenging to acquire.
Yet, somehow we were successful in chasing Kukdi Khapa Waterfall.
We finally made it to the spot.
I felt tiny in front of the Kukdi Khapa waterfall.
It spilled and showered sprinkles of water on us due to the wind as if it were raining.
It was truly refreshing for our minds and soul.
We were blessed by nature.
Filled with Pleasure and joy.
It’s obvious to feel ecstatic and enthusiastic but be careful.
You might slip badly here. One of my friends slipped near the waterfall.
But for God’s sake, sustained minor wounds.
It’s better to move slowly and carefully than to suffer major injuries.
However, the climb up while going back was quite challenging.
We returned back safely with hearts filled with new experiences and memories of incredible nature.
CONCLUSION
To all travel and adventure enthusiasts, Kukdi Khapa Waterfall should be on everyone’s bucket list this monsoon, especially for Nagpurians.
The waterfall’s close frontal view will surprise your eyes for sure.
If you haven’t visited here yet, do visit here soon.
The only advice I have for you is that just be careful while crossing the river and trekking down the steep slope.
Come with all safety and gear.
Monsoon is coming…
